Obituary: Mary “Josephine” Box Addison

Mary “Josephine” Box Addison, age 82, of Lake Butler went home to be with her Lord and Savior, October 31, 2019. Mrs. Addison was born on March 22, 1937 in White Springs, Florida to the late Alfred and Natalie Christie Box. Her family moved to Lake Butler in 1947 and she graduated from Union County High School in 1955. Mrs. Addison served as Union County Tax Collector from 1968 to 1988. She then worked at Meridian Heathcare and Lake Butler Hospital, where she retired in 2011. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, where she played the piano and directed the choir. Mrs. Addison also taught piano to many students in Union County. She enjoyed working in the yard but most of all loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed but what a legacy she has left. Mrs. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Addison, her parents, her siblings, Lovurn, J.E. and Mike.

Mrs. Josephine is survived by her children, Curtis Addison and Patsy (Donny) Brooker of Lake Butler. 3 granddaughters, Shanna, Shelby, Jordyn and 2 great-grandsons, Camden and Cain; her brother, A.C. (Johnnie Bell) Box of Lake Butler; three sisters, Alief Bryant of Glen St. Mary, Delores Brannen and Durelle (Emory) Bailey of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews.
